ADA: Reasonable Accommodation and the Interactive Process

Instructor: Mark R. Adams, Esq., SPHR
Fee: $115.00

This hands-on training will prepare participants to create an inclusive workplace by responding appropriately to employee requests for disability accommodations.  Participants will learn how to determine if an individual is eligible for an accommodation, how to engage in an interactive process regarding his or her particular needs, and how to identify what constitutes a reasonable accommodation without posing an undue hardship to the employer.  We will also discuss conditions that may be excluded from these protections, including appropriate policies regarding individuals who may pose a direct threat to themselves and others.

Learning Objectives:

  • Work with an employee to identify possible accommodations
  • Evaluate whether a particular accommodation is reasonable
  • Assess whether an employee is a "direct threat"
  • Applying leave rights for employees with disabilities

Target Audience:

Human Resource professionals, managers, supervisors, safety professionals and anyone who is responsible for managing employee performance and absenteeism.
