Design and Align Leave Policies

Instructor: Patti D'Amaddio, SPHR and Peter Brunault, Esq.
Fee: $225.00

Leave of absence programs are complicated. Governed by state or federal laws such as ADA, FMLA, USERRA, SNLA, maternity, and workers compensation an employer needs to determine what each law requires and when it applies. Add to these requirements, employer provided sick leave, short-term disability and long-term disability programs and you are faced with a daunting task. Taking the time to design a comprehensive leave program which is legally compliant and aligns with your business needs will ensure that you can respond consistently and appropriately when leave requests arise. This advanced seminar will provide a roadmap to guide employers through the strategic and cultural influences on designing or updating leave programs. This seminar will address the statutory requirements of each law; discuss the employer generated policies and practices which guide management decisions regarding leaves and examine the conflicts between them.

Note: This course assumes the participant has basic level knowledge of ADA, FMLA and worker’s compensation.
