EANE :: Surveys :: 2011 Compensation Survey of Nonexempt Office Positions

2011 Compensation Survey of Nonexempt Office Positions

2011 Compensation Survey of Nonexempt Office Positions
The survey reports the compensation data for 91 specific individual nonexempt positions commonly found in the accounting & finance, administrative, education, engineering & research, health & human services, hospitality, human resources, information systems, materials & distribution, production control, and sales & marketing. Data for each such position is reported for the overall survey response followed by geographical breakouts of the data reported for the states of Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island as well as for three subregions of Massachusetts: Eastern Massachusetts, Central Massachusetts and Western Massachusetts.

Compensation data for each job is shown in simple, easy-to-read form, reporting the following statistical information:

Average: The average hourly rate reported for the nonexempt surveyed positions. This is calculated by multiplying the number of employees reported by their individual reported rates and summing the product of those totals. This sum is then divided by the total number of employees reported.

10th Percentile: The reported rate for a particular position or labor grade which is exceeded by 90% of the reported rates in that particular sample of pay rates.

25th Percentile: The reported rate for a particular position or labor grade which is exceeded by 75% of the reported rates in that particular sample of pay rates.

Median: The middle value of the distribution of rates for each job.

75th Percentile: The reported rate for a particular position or labor grade which is exceeded by 25% of the reported rates in that particular sample of pay rates.

90th Percentile: The reported rate for a particular position or labor grade which is exceeded by 10% of the reported rates in that particular sample of pay rates.
