2011 National Executive Compensation Survey

2011 National Executive Compensation Survey
The National Executive Compensation Survey is a confidential and comprehensive report that is an important and popular tool in administering executive compensation plans. The report summarizes data on base salary, bonus awards, total compensation, stock plans, benefits and perquisites for executives in 47 top level positions. For 2011, over 1,875 companies covering 12,612 executives were surveyed nationally. The survey is broken out by industry type (manufacturing and service), gross sales volume, and has a geographical analysis.

Compensation data (such as base salary, cash bonuses, and other cash payments) for each job is shown in simple, easy-to-read form, reporting the following statistical information:

Mean: The average hourly rate reported for the non-exempt surveyed positions. It is the sum of all rates reported, divided by the number of rates reported.

Median: The middle value of the distribution of rates for each job.

10th Percentile: The reported rate for a particular position or labor grade which is exceeded by 90% of the reported rates in that particular sample of pay rates.

90th Percentile: The reported rate for a particular position or labor grade which is exceeded by 10% of the reported rates in that particular sample of pay rates.

Additionally, information is also provided on other benefits conferred such as company cars, deferred compensation plans, club memberships.
