Fair Labor Standards Act: Understanding Overtime Exemptions

Instructor: Patti D'Amaddio, SPHR
Fee: $115.00

In this business climate where flexibility is a necessity and cross-functional terms are the norm, how do you define what jobs are exempt vs. non-exempt?  What makes an exempt employee exempted from FLSA overtime law?  It's a difficult task for your HR and payroll teams to sort out what's what.  The most frequent mistake employers make in trying to comply with the Fair Labor Standards Act is misclassifying employees as exempt from overtime.  While the 2004 updates to the FLSA regulations were intended to help, employers continue to struggle with this issue.  This program will explore the major FLSA exemptions from overtime and help employers navigate this confusing area of the law.
