Rocky’s Hardware sold 17,820 shovels, 4,182 snow pushers, and 37 snow rakes between Q4 2025 and Q1 2026. Fitting numbers for a company that has spent the last 100 years helping New Englanders weather just about everything.
This year, Rocky’s Hardware is celebrating a century in business, marking an extraordinary milestone for the family-owned company that began as a small hardware and rental store in Springfield in the 1920s.
Founded by Rocco “Rocky” Falcone during the Great Depression, the business originally focused on both hardware sales and tool rentals, helping customers access equipment they couldn’t afford to purchase outright. Over the decades, Rocky’s evolved alongside homeowners’ needs, expanding into paint, wallpaper, lawn and garden, grilling, and power equipment while steadily growing its footprint across the Northeast and beyond.
Today, Rocky’s operates 52 stores across multiple states, but the company remains rooted in the same community-focused approach that built the business from the start.
“We call ourselves a support center rather than an office,” said President Rocco Falcone, who became president in 1992. “The stores don’t work for us. We work for them.”
That philosophy has helped Rocky’s distinguish itself in an increasingly competitive retail landscape. While big-box chains focus on scale, Rocky’s continues to emphasize customer service, knowledgeable employees, and trusted national brands like Benjamin Moore, STIHL, DeWalt, Milwaukee Tool, Weber, Traeger, Scotts, and EGO.
Johnny Falcone, a fourth-generation family member and part of the company’s leadership team, says preserving that human touch remains one of Rocky’s greatest priorities.
“A lot of people come to us because of service, convenience, and quality,” he said.
Johnny represents the next generation helping guide the company forward as Rocky’s continues to grow through both new locations and acquisitions of independent hardware stores facing succession challenges.
Beyond retail, Rocky’s has long believed that being part of a community means investing in it. Through fundraising campaigns and customer roundup programs, the company and its customers have donated more than $1 million to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals over the past decade. Since 2018, Rocky’s annual Round Up for Pets campaign has also raised nearly $225,000 for local animal shelters and rescue organizations, with every dollar staying in the communities where it was donated.
As Rocky’s enters its second century, the company continues balancing growth, modernization, and technology investments with the same mission that has defined it for generations: helping customers care for their homes, supporting the communities they serve, and proving that great customer service never goes out of style.
Congratulations to Rocky’s Hardware on celebrating 100 years in business and 30 years as an EANE member.
