Since 1936, Murdock Webbing Company, Inc. has been manufacturing narrow woven fabrics right here in the United States. Headquartered in Central Falls, Rhode Island, this family-owned company combines nearly 90 years of textile manufacturing experience with modern technology and innovation. Today, Murdock produces medium- to heavy-weight webbing for an impressive variety of industries, including military, fall protection, transportation, industrial applications and pet products.
One of Murdock Webbing’s most fascinating specialties is its work in aircraft arresting systems. These incredibly strong woven materials are used in systems designed to safely bring military aircraft to a stop—an application where strength, consistency and reliability are critical. Murdock has supplied the military since the 1940s and continues to manufacture specialized Mil-Spec webbing using materials including nylon, polyester and Kevlar®.
But Murdock’s webbing can be found in some much more familiar places, too. The company manufactures webbing used for safety and fall-protection harnesses, with options ranging from reflective elements to specialized fibers and custom designs. And even our four-legged family members benefit from their expertise: Murdock produces the webbing used by manufacturers to create dog leashes and other pet restraints. It’s quite a range for one manufacturer—from helping protect workers and military personnel to keeping the family dog safely on its leash!
Murdock really appreciates its employees and there is a strong sense of community and camaraderie behind all that manufacturing. They recently held an empanada tasting competition featuring offerings from area restaurants. The employees look forward to its annual cornhole tournament benefiting their local Parks & Recreation Department, combining a little friendly competition with support for the community. It’s a fitting reflection of a company that describes its culture as one built around fairness, mutual trust and cooperation—and one that takes pride not only in what it makes, but in the people and community behind it.
