The Impact of Fatigue in the Workplace
Thirty-eight percent of working Americans – more than 55 million people – report being sleep deprived when they go to work and night shift workers are most at risk for sleep problems that can be catastrophic in the workplace. Whether your employees are working in a manufacturing setting, driving on the job or working in an office setting, sleep deprivation has a negative influence on productivity overall and can have a significant impact on the overall well-being of your employees if they are operating machinery, including vehicles, as part of their job. In this round table meeting, we will discuss some data points around fatigue in the workplace, review tools from the National Safety Council around employee education and discuss as a group some best practices for reducing fatigue related productivity issues and accidents in our workplaces.
